This morning I was just walking down the stairs, still in my dressig gown not feeling myself at all after spending yesterday afternoon in a&e due to a bad scratch on my eyeball when my mobile rang.
A guy on the other end asked if I had a doberman. Said no, then said but I have a Rottie. Well I have got her  Asked him if he had another one there and he hadnt.  Asked where he was and he said he was up the road from me and said he would walk it down to me after I had said I was in my dressing gown :o
What had happened was my gates had blown open in the night due to the really bad winds and James had let 2 of the dogs out 10 minutes earlier.
I ran outside and shouted Beano, and bless him, he ran straight to me from a house 5 doors down :) :) (Yes I have a big voice!!!) put him inside.
And as I was running down the road in just a dressing gown and bare feet a women came out of her house to say she had seen the dog running down the road.
Then round the corner came thios lovely women being dragged along by my young Rottweiler Ebba :) :) She had got out of the car and picked her up as could see she wasnt street wise :)
So not everyone hates Rotties and putting my mobile number on her tag probably saved her from the pound :)
My gate has now been changed so it shouldnt blow open again unless it breaks.
And they both had a big hug!!!

Oh fantastic, what a lovely tale!  And a big relief to you I'll bet :)

My lot have only done a runner once - the wind blew my gate open - turns out Soli was at the other end of the garden behind the garage, and Remy had gone straight into next door's garden to eat bird food :D Opi, bless her, was lying by the open gate in the sun watching the world go by!

I keep mine padlocked for that reason ( a friend had that happen to her), but also because my Gas meter is behind the gate and the meter readers would just breeze in without a by your leave and I was frightened to death they would let the dogs loose.  Also the chances of kids doing so (not mine of course).
