"I see Jessica as my daughter"
- By MollMoo Date 30.11.07 20:02 UTC
I saw Jessica on sky news some months ago, and then watched a programme about her on Discovery Animal Planet.
They guy who helped rear her is a Ranger that has helped many orphaned animals, she is given free reign to do exactly what she wants, even goes swimming with wild Hippo's.  But keeps returning back to the wonderful couple that reared her.  I see no harm in it, she's not held against her will or cooped up without hope of never returning to the wild, she's free to do exactly what she wants.

Yep agree with what you say just thought the daughter thing was a bit OTT! Not sure about the sweet coffee either to be honest...her teeth looked in rather bad shape. Loved watching her with the dogs - she quickly picked her foot up when she realised she'd hurt the dog's paw :D

Blimey  Can you imagine if they tried to claim on their insurance. 'hello we need to make a claim as my hippo has had an accident on the carpet' :D :D

I do feel though that now that she can feed herself they ought to stop feeding her especially sugary treats so that she will be more likely to follow her instincts and return to the wild.

That's lovely, what a nice story :) . The guy must know what he's doing as he was a warden for years and has raised plenty of orphans in that time, so it seems. Everyone is happy in the clip, including the dogs and the hippo has a wonderful life. So great.

I love Hippos anyway, but she's a darling!!  What a lovely clip!
Thanks for sharing,

Sarah.
