Can anyone shed any light as to where information on dogs flying on UK internal flights can be sought and approximately how much it costs?  The crucial factor would be that the dog would be unaccompanied and the journey would be from Coventry or Birmingham to Edinburgh.  Thanks, Kay

Hi Kay,

Being honest I think the only one who does it now is British Airways. Unless someone else knows and you don't want to know the price believe me :-)

I flew my dog out to Seattle  a few months ago for a 6-12 month trip it cost £688 , I was going to fly him to London first and my freind was going to come get him on a airmiles deal BUT the cost for him to go to London from Edinburgh was £400.. honestly ( they are priced as Cargo)

Yep flying dogs Cargo very dear.

Lat year I travelled to Finland with my bitch as it was cheaper for the outward journey for both of us to travel (my return ticket and excess baggage), but the Pets Passport rules insist they come into UK Cargo and that was the largest part of the bill, £1200 altogether, gulp.

They charge you for the cubic weight or the actual weight whichever is more and of course the container volume includes air and free space so to be honest your paying for a lot heavier than the dog and crate.

I have just flown two BMD pups to Jersey by private currier and it cost £150 each...unfortunately the pilot is based in Jersey so no good for you but it may be worth investigating in this country?
