A rescue society has made public thru the local TV news/teletext, a dog found in a bad state.  Very basic description could be of one of my breed which are often mistaken for the described cross breed, but no further info can I find.  The society are said to be keen to find the poor dogs owners but no form of contact etc is stated.  On visiting the relevant website, no info at all available on the dog or contact details for the area regarding the dog :rolleyes:  I know of one of my breed missing locally but don't want to wind the poor owners up if this isn't likely to be their dog, nor do I wish to have any dealings with the society - I wouldn't be able to stay calm and polite for many reasons  :(  

So, what is the point of the rescue society giving this sort of info if no contact details or useful ID info are published??   What exactly do they hope to acheive? - apart from self aggrandisement :(

I'd be inclined to contact the tv news in question and ask for details of the rescue, that way you will be in a position to advise the owners or not, whichever the case may be about the dog that has been found.

Maybe it was the local tv news that forgot to add the contact details :rolleyes:

I think most rescues do a really good job with little resource and their websites are not always updated immediately because a lot of the time they rely on volunteers to do that.

For the dogs sake it may be worth biting the bullet and making the enquiry :)

It was Teletext - no additional info there :( and the rescue Society is well known and not necessarily short of staff or money - for their own purposes - hence the speculation as to the point of publicising this, it would be easy enough to add contact details for this to their website, since they are said to be so keen to find the owners of the dog :(

At last, Google searching has brought up another news site that has now taken up the story.  More info reveals the dog is not a bedlington so no need to get their hopes up for nowt, they are going thru enough as it is.

The point is publicity, they thrive on it.

Recently the organisation published similar details about a dog that belongs to the breed that the rescue I work for deals with, when I phoned them to say we had good homes waiting for this dog they said quite simply they didn't need a a home for it they needed donations.

I understand that any rescue has to generate funds to carry on their work but to decline help on the grounds that an animal has a publicity worth that out weighs a good home for it doesn't sit well with my understanding of the aims of rescue.
