Topic Dog Boards / General / Very mad about Cross breeding again! :( (locked)
- By Gemini05 Date 14.11.07 12:01 UTC
Just been doing my usual search on web regards my breed, and find my breed crossed with another again, I have had words with this person and was told it was an accident but now this will be the third litter of these crosses, OH it makes me so so cross :( :(
- By Brainless [gb] Date 14.11.07 12:14 UTC
Grrr.  I have seen your breed crossed with Border Collies in the past, in fact one livers near me, but her mother was crossed back to your breed so is 3/4, really don't see the point.

I just wonder if perhaps you should stop looking, as it upsets you so much? With the best will in the world you can't stop people cross breeding, ringing them up is only going to be more upsetting and likely you will be told to mind your own business....

I was doing a search on a toy breed and was shocked to see out of about 20 adverts only 3 were for the genuine article the rest were crossed with all sorts!

Sadly, thats the case with many breeds on the popular advertising sites. makes for quite sickening reading really.
- By Gemini05 Date 14.11.07 16:34 UTC
I know I shouldn't keep searching, but I do it to make sure that none of my own bred dogs end up for sale, and just to see whats going on the the breed of my choice world.
And I know there is not much I can do about it, apart from advise people to stick to the pure breds, but now and again I do need to RANT on this forum!! :D :(

Rant away and I'm with you again!!!! We noticed she had had an accident again too !
- By ShaynLola Date 14.11.07 17:35 UTC
I presume this is the same one we have spoken about before? :(  It makes me angry because buyers are taken in by the 'accident' story
- By calmstorm Date 15.11.07 03:11 UTC
I see what you mean, if you have pups that may be sold on its a worry. Think I saw the ad, is it the only one on the site for that breed (as in, your breed first?) Accident...my big foot ;) Unless they already breed and know how to word ads.

Rant away, please don't let me stop you :D :D.....my comments were simply a common sense thing, but if you are looking out for any of yours being sold on, they are the most likely places to look. BRS showing change of ownership is a bit late

So that it can't possibly be construed as advertising.

my old boy is a crossbred. he is the most wonderful boy. never had any health issues with him. i love him to pieces.

Hi Little Jayne, I have owned a crossbreed before, and am not mocking them, it is just when a breeder who claims to be responsible, KC accredited breeder, and breeding for type and to improve the breed, starts breeding cross breeds to try and make some extra cash, and to SOMETIMES use the same bitch for a KC reg litter and then within 12 months use the same bitch for a cross breed litter xx

it is just when a breeder who claims to be responsible, KC accredited breeder,

Have you reported her to the breed club and the KC about this? If you can prove what she is doing, then surely the Kc can at least take her off the AB scheme, and the breed club fine or expel her?

We had a crossbreed too and he was the best dog my mother ever had, she never replaced him, but my father-in-law has just gone and bought a 'Jack-a-doodle' absolutely gorgeous and so cute, but goodness only knows what they paid for it - I didn't ask and its basically a cross. I have no objection to crossbreeds, simply the implication that they are rare or special and with a price tag to match!

I've yet to meet anyone that has a problem with crossbreed dogs, just the people producing them for profit(giving them silly names etc) when there are rescue centres up and down the country full of them needing homes :( BTW I have an adorable bassetxJRT ;)
