I always dread 24th September as it is the anniversary of the day I lost my Dad. This year is the 38th year, I was only 6 when he died, and I am now exactly the age he was when he died, 44.
The day started as normal 2 dogs out with Hubby whilst I tidied up etc, I just put some washing away when I noticed one of my 2 Budgies was on the bottom of the Cage, they had just had fresh seed put in, and they were both sitting together. I took her out of the cage and she was still warm, but got no response from her, she'd gone. I cried, stupid I know but today of all days.
Her name was Monica, she was 2years old and she will be missed.
Just needed to share this day with someone.

Sweep, I'm sorry you're having a rough day. :(
I lost my mom when I was 10 & my dad when I was 11. I still feel cheated out of a "normal" childhood. :( But what helps me is remembering that each day I spent with them was a gift. Every day I get the chance to honor their memory by being the best person I can be and living a good life. Lord knows I'm not perfect, but hopefully I carry the all the best parts of them within me. :)

And in your kids Quinn.:D I am sure that in your raising of them you can make up for what you lost to some extent. My Dad lost his father in a russian labour Camp just after the war, at 11 and has always felt cheated too. :D

Losing a parent is awful at any time but it must be especially hard when you're a child. I was nearly 40 when my dad died - I still miss him terribly, but at least I had him around when I needed him most.

Sweep always remember your folks are all ways with you until the end of your day's
some times I think of my darling mum and dad and always a strange happening occurs I just know they are not far away .Pat xx
I lost my mum at a very young age, and nearly 40 years on I still think of her every day. I remember she loved dogs, and I think that must be where I have my love of dogs from. You never get over losing anyone close, but you learn to live with it. Thinking of you sweep.

Just to say "Thank you" all so much for your kind words. Yesterday was an awful day, always the same things go through my mind, Life is too short, all the things my Dad & I missed doing together, but at the end of the day the one thing nobody can take away from me, is, he was my Dad, something I wouldn't have changed for anything.
