A breeder friend of mine who kennels her dogs has always said how well behaved her stud was with the ladies when they were in season, she never had a problem with him going off food, howling and trying to get to an in season bitch, she used to boast about how wonderful he was, and he often completely ignored maidens he was excellent, very obediant and he could be called away from any bitch no problem. Until one year................ :-P

She didn't always use him to stud her bitches, but one particular bitch he matched very well with and she had mated him the year before with her.

Well, he obviously hadn't forgotten, ;-) her well behaved, very obediant dog was excellent until this bitch reached her optimun time and then this dog went like a lunatic for her for 3 days he all but tried to rip his way out of the kennel, he howled, he cried he refused to eat, then he went back to normal once again.

So you never know, some dogs can handle it well and are certainly managable, but just watch out for her peak time that may be when he goes stir crazy. :-)
