Have fun, I have a colleague who has no dog but loves little ones, she has always had Westies. I have promised my boy to her for when I go on holidays but not untill he is a little better behaved. He is almost 2 now and improving daily, so it wont be long. We will both benefit from this though he may be a littlle spoiled there.

That's very exciting, I hope you enjoy your visitor. Do you know how it is with fireworks? I have one dog that is OK and one who is terrified. It's going to be a very long weekend for him. I've spent time today preparing the house by putting curtains over windows that don't normally have them. Plus I'll make a point of taking him out about 4 in hopes I'll beat the fireworks. Then will have to get up around 2 AM to take him out again and hope no one sets anything off while we're out there. Managing a frightened dog can be quite an operation. It's weekends like this I wish he knew how to use the toilet. :-D of course he'd probably leave the seat up!

I wasnt sure how he was going to be with the fireworks but he was absolutely fine. He just said in his cage with the door open and didnt bat an eye lid. We've been up to the horses and he's really good off the lead to say he's 8 months old. I had him off the lead for 6 hours on Saturday and he just run around constantly! He's so adorable!!

Went on a hack this morning on my horse and took him with us and both horse and dog behaved really well!

Makes me want my own dog though now. I think me and OH will see how much time we do manage to spend with him and see if it would be okay for us to get a dog or not. I work day time and OH does shifts so its possible we could get one. :)

Erm why?

6 hours of exercise for any pup would be too much, though I doubt you meant that.

I assumed you meant you had pup with you while you were up with the horses and he lounged around doing his thang, having naps etc, and then came out on a ride with you?

If that isn't what you meant then you have to bear in mind that a pups bones are not fully calcified and still growing and too much exercise can damage them.  Also this pup may not be used to this amount of exercise as very few people would even contemplate or have the time for it.

Yeah he was off the lead while we mucked out and had a coffee, then he came out while we rode, then he was off the lead around the yard while we cooled off any hayed etc, then we walked round a XC course ready for the Sunday.

He probably wasnt constantly running for 6 hours but he was out of the house for 6 hours :)
