Have just watched BBC news. I *think* the reporter was in Wellington NZ. Anyway ..the local council wants to ban snowmen and snowballs :)

The woman from the council says that they are dangerous :D Snowman can block paths and can MOVE! I think she was talking about them sliding during a thaw.

Snowballs are even worse ...sooooo dangerous!

Apparantly tobogganing is okay though

:D

Saw it to Melody, the woman interviewed was all "well it might happen - it couldhappen - old people could be hurt etc" when asked if it had happened she did not say yes. Reminds me of planning permision an organisation my husband is involved with, one of the reasons for rejecting it was "people may park their cars and walk across the fields to get there" now when was the last time you saw someone chose not to park as near as possible if a car park is provided, I've never know anybody park a mile away and walk, but according to the planing officers 'they may' and to them that is enough to refuse permission. Crazy world. Jackie

Melody, I saw it too. Isn't it typical of some folk that they want to spoil everyone's enjoyment for 'just in case'? What'll be the next thing to be banned? I reckon books and all paper items as you can get nasty paper cuts from them ;) And anyway, it can all be done by computer can't it? Then they'll want to ban pcs in case we all get eye strain, not to mention RSI from using the keyboard too much!

When I was working in the library I had a Mum complain that the corner of the plastic jacket on a book had scratched her child and we should stop using them. As I worked 27 years in the library handling these every day and had no trouble nor had I ever heard of anyone else with a problem I think that to go with her idea would have been a bit excessive.
Funnily enough I have had quite a few paper cuts but still wouldn't suggest banning books :-D

I was only joking about books and pcs. I thought that the idea of banning books because of potentially life threating papercuts was on a par with banning snowballs and snowmen. Ludicrous.

Hmmm, however would they enforce this ban? Call the police if someone builds a snowman? I'd love to hear the dispatcher go off on that ijiot ;) :D :D
random thoughts here:
I wonder what they call a phobia of snowmen and/or snowballs?
Death by Frosty :D :D :D --now that could be a good horror flic title ;)

They would probably turn up with bulldozers and flamethrowers to melt the offensive snow. Then check your freezer to make sure you hadn't saved any for later! ;)

Wasn't there a horror film not so long ago involving a snowman? :cool Maybe it has only just reached down under and made a big impression. :P

I'm amazed this was in New Zealand, when we were there last year we were able to take our children white water rafting, climbing glaciers, speed boating and all were very scary, non would have been allowed here, health and saftey seemed non existant.... but how refreshing it was!!
