Topic Dog Boards / Health / Optigen 20/20 clinic

There's a satellite clinic being held on the 8th February 2008, if anyone wants to save money & get their dog(s)DNA tested by Optigen, it's not restricted to BC's & they are also doing TNS testing. If anyone wants the details it's on the Optigen site. For some reason the page isn't opening for me so if you want details of who to contact PM me.

There are details on the site of all the tests available. If you are too far away from the clinic(like me)you can get your own vet to draw the bloods & then send them to the clinic co-ordinator

I'm having Jessie tested for CEA/CL & both Rjj & Jessie for TNS. I'll be getting them both hip scored after Jessie has her first season & no I'm not breeding them together

Looks like if you think you can get 20 samples you can run your own clinic. I know what I'm bringing to ringcraft :)

LOL you do need an efficient experienced blood taking vet & a foolproof filing system to keep the cost of taking the bloods down

The main cost outside of the actual tests is the FEDEX costs Hence sending them as a batch rather a few at a time

Well if we can't find one I know a certain collie club that will be getting a golden sample! I have no plans to breed her but I'm going to get her hips scored and eyes tested to pass the information along to her breeder so she knows how her dogs' progeny are turning out.

FedEx overseas is horrible isn't it. It would almost be cheaper to put someone on a plane with the samples! ooh, there's a thought for my next visit home!

LOLOLOL

My vet is good at taking bloods, but he does like to fuss the dogs & spends ages chatting !

I'm possibly going to let Jessie have a litter, but she will have to have clear DNA tests & good hips before I even consider it
