Hi guys my granparents have two shih tzus which they struggle to groom now after health issues, so i now clip them for them.  I use Moser Max 45 240 Volt but dont find them very good going though the coat.  Can anyone recommen any others?

Hi

I use the Moser 45 for my Newfie and have no problems with what I require.
I'm only a novice though:eek: and have have just 2 blades. An Andis 3/4" HT/19mm and a Whal 8.5 28mm blade which came with it if I remember rightly.
It seems to cut well and never struggles and I always bath him first to get the grit out of his coat to save the blades.
Just a guess as the clippers are pretty good but maybe your choice of blades might be the answer.
I'm no expert and hopefully someone will pop in and help.

I used to use a Wahl KM, certainly did the trick while I was grooming.  I used wahl, moser and ostler blades on it - definitely an advantage to have something I could use different blade makes on.

Do you brush the coats through before clipping, then bath and dry the dogs?  Dirty or tangled hair will make for harder work clipping, and dulls the blades faster than clean hair too.

Just to solve my nosiness, what on earth gets clipped on a Newf?

Hi
I used to use Oster A5's but have just invested in a pair of Andis Super twin speed (red ones) and they are great, my breed has a very thick wool coat which mats up (even though you think youve got it under control) and I clipped a friends dog off yesterday that had clogged up completely around his neck and they were great, had to use the high speed but they were better than my osters.. have to say it also makes a difference if the dog is clean before clipping as it certainly helps save the blades...
