I would suggest that you first visit breeders of both breeds to decide which breed you want. Whippets and Italian Greyhounds are SOOOO different in character and behaviour- believe me, I have both, and Whippets are so much easier to live with!
People think that Italians, being toy dogs, are quiet lap dogs, but they are VERY active, demanding, can be noisy and difficult to house train, but wonderful if you can stand to live with them. Whippets on the other hand, are generally quiet, loving, well behaved couch potatoes!
