This is up the road from me.
On the way back from mablethorpe on sunday I saw all the emergancy services beside the water and found out it was this.
Then found out the father is someone who we knew years ago. My brother went to school with him. I used to hang around with his brother a bit, and his mother(sadly died a few years ago) was my maths teacher. And him and his wife used to live round the corner from my mum.
Dont aim any sympathy at me as I havnt known him for years and didnt know the kids.
But it does bring it home to you how easy it is to loose everything from one accident, and its not always a complete stranger it happens to.
I couldnt believe it when my son came down and told me 2 more had gone.
Rest in Peace little ones. I hope you didnt suffer :(

I heard about this crash...I understand the landrover had just overtaken another vehicle at speed when it lost control and went off the road into the river.
If four children died, the parents and two children were unhurt, and one child is in hospital, doesnt that make NINE people in the landrover?? I know landrovers are big,but im pretty sure that it means that several of those children were not wearing seatbelts...perhaps thats why the older ones survived and the little ones died :(

I heard that it overtook a minibus towing a trailer. Now I have driven that road ALOt over the last year and that is the place I know I can overtake as it is long and straight and I think 50mph and I am able to get passed the slow drivers that I get stuck behind on the windy roads before and after that straight. So would not hold that against the driver whether it be Gresh or his wife
Yes 9 were in there, but it was a big landrover. the type that does take over 9 people in it.  Aparently it is ones they use on the beach. Long wheel base, so yes they would all have seat belts available to them

IT is a terribe shame. Im sure it will all come out at the inquest....Im not sure how it can actually be possible to overtake on a single track road, so surely the story cant be quite right., as you say, you know the road and its possible to overtake there. I wasnt aware that landrovers could seat 9. I m reassured by that cos at first it sounds really alarming.

No it wasnt right.
It was the A153. a normal 2 track road. not a dual carriage way but a normal 'A' road.

Landrovers can have up to 12 seats that I know of ...
http://www.landrovercentre.com/usa/usa_stock.htm
Sorry about the link, its the only way I can show that they can carry 7 kids in a landrover.
This one I hope shows a 12 seater.
I do hope, somehow, the parents and 3 remaining children can get through this somehow and live as normal a lofe as they possibly can :( :( I was awful hearing the 2 year old had died, thenm I heard another one had but the iother 3 were critical but stable. To hear that another 2 had had their life support machine switched off. It does not bear thinking about, loosing 4 children in 3 days is something that will take alot to cope with :(
