Tara went in to be groomed today. She usually goes once a year to have her undercoat out before the winter as she is a pest to groom (for me) so I like it done properly :) Now she has always gone to the groomer at the kennels (often when she is in the kennels when we are away). She's always looked very good afterwards - just groomed, bathed, feet trimmed. I know that the groomer at the kennels has changed. OH booked her in and took her this morning. I don't know what questions he was asked - he may have given the wrong answers as he hasn't a clue about grooming, but Tara came out with her pantaloons completely removed, her rear end was scissored very close (don't think that it was clipped)

Now, my question is would an experienced groomer do this ??? OH didn't think that he'd asked for this :( Her rear end looks like an Akita's now :D :D :D I'm not too bothered (I don't show her and it will soon grow back), it just looks very strange :)
Opinions please :)

Poor Tara :D :D Make sure she doesn't walk with a North wind blowing up her exposed rear end for a few weeks :D :D
They are a little short !!

Although, I am sure it won't be too long before they grow back..........
They look like they have been scissored very close.
With them still being a rare (ish) breed, the groomer may not have been 100% sure of how to trim them, but I would have expected them to ask, or at least look up some pictures...... Maybe you could give her a picture for next time (if you choose to go back).
Hope all is well with you and Tara ??

But surely...Aussies are just a BC without a tail to those people who don't know them....So why not groom them like a BC and get it right? :D
Poor Tara,

Not really........ not all Border Collies have the 'pants' at the back...
Have to say, I am not enamoured with the 'tails' that I have seen on aussies so far. I still can't decide on a puppy that has a quarter tail !!!!
Glad Tara is doing ok Daisy, she looks good in her pictures. Her breeders lost her Mum too about 4 weeks ago..... what a year this is turning out to be for them... :-(

Oh poor Spice :( :( How old was she 12 or 13ish ? Colin and Glynis must be heartbroken losing her so soon after Oscar :( :(
Tara's really well - I'm hoping that she will take after her Dad and live to a ripe old age :D

Poor Glynis and Colin are having a sad year, aren't they. How old is Tara now - I can't remember if she's from the same litter as my Meg (1998)? I can't believe that Meg is hurtling towards being 10.
Poor Tara does look a bit naked behind, but I don't suppose she cares. Let's hope it doesn't get cold too soon :)

I don't think that OH asked the groomer to cut it all off - he was a bit embarassed when I got home :D :D Good idea about the photo for next time - I'm not sure whether there will be a next time :D :D
Tara's fine - she's still obsessed with her rugby ball and her gorilla soft toy. Her paw is so much better now and rarely causes her any trouble, apart from walking on rough surfaces :) She is very affectionate and loves a fuss :) :)

Poor Tara, and poor you :( If I paid a groomer to groom my dog out and it came back looking completely different, having been cut, I'd go mental!
It's one of the reasons I started grooming, the number of local groomers who have NO IDEA of what the different breeds are supposed to look like  It isn't rocket science, and surely to groom dogs you should be interested in the different breeds and what it is that makes them look different? There are any number of books to help, and some even give a step by step guide so no excuse IMO, but then I am really pernickety about doing things properly ;)

The old groomer, as far as I know, was employed by the kennels. Now, I think, the new one rents the space, so the kennels don't have any say on her work, although if they get too many people complaining they might do something about it :( I'll certainly have a word in someone's ear next week :)

Just remember, you PAID for it to be done, if it isn't what you asked for ... :(

Trouble is that OH booked it all and I'm not sure what he agreed to (although he may not have known) :( I just assumed that they would do what had been done before :( :( It's not the end of the world tho' it will all grow back pretty soon - at least I don't show !!!

Oh poor Tara (or should we call her Nik - short for knickerless - for the moment :D ) I have to confess to once having trimmed Lokis pantaloons far more than I should have - but they did grow back.
Just don't let Bramble laugh at her !

Oh dear, someone has stolen her knickers haven't they. Your OH is not alone. I met a woman in the park with a golden in a sort of poodle cut. Looks like she was trimmed all over with a close blade but tail left long. Horrible! The poor woman was horrified. Her OH liked it and the mobile groomer told her it was all the rage now.

It's was blinking cold oop North yesterday but today it's warmed up a bit. Hopefully we'll keep some sun for her.
