Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Merlots Breakfast!!

Let me tell you the story of Merlots breakfast today.
1 1/2 lb of raw green tripe, two chicken wings and a lot of last nights veggies to start, then later we set off for our walk and to pick blackberries (lots about and HUGE ones to) We could not understand why the bucket was not filling up as quickly as it should.:confused::confused: we kept picking and tipping into the bucket but it never seemed to get any fuller :rolleyes:
Then we saw Merlot catch a rabbit and scoff it down quick as a flash.
We kept picking...Merlot kept rushing in and out of the hedges and coming back to say Hi then off again, then we realized she was rushing back to us and grabbing a huge mouthful of blackberries from the bucket and scoffing them  then rushing off again...she must have eaten a couple of pounds of them before we rescued the bucket.
Next thing she came out of the hedge with a well chewed (Not by her!) deers hind leg and proceeded to settle down for a nice long chew on that!! Needless to say I removed it ...I think she had had enough by then
So to recap:
1 1/2 lb tripe, 2 chick wings, some veg, one rabbit... whole! couple lbs blackberries and a nice meaty (If smelly ) venison bone.
She is crashed out now sleeping like a baby!!!
Anyone beat that for a rich variety of food...well balenced diet or what?

My lot pick their own blackberries, direct from the bush. They even manage to sort out which are ripe and which aren't, very clever me thinks!

Now as for breakfast this morning, lamb ribs were on the menu. Hamish, being as over-exuberant as ever, grabbed at the bones as I was handing them out and grabbed my finger instead. God did it hurt, he bit right down to the bone and I'm now off to the Docs this afternoon for a tetanus jab.

Oh Merlot! oink oink little Miss! :-D My girl is jealous and wants to go walking with you. I tell her to leave stinking rabbit's bits alone on walkies and we don't have that many berries around here and have never chanced on a nice hunk of deer.

Today's menu for terrier: fallen pear, spilled birdseed from under feeder, blackberries and tayberries from garden, half a pound of fallen hazelnuts crunched up whilst out on walk, large mouthful of mangled rabbit found in field.

Oh, and some dog food but who needs that?

Makes you wonder why we fuss so much about "balanced meals" Leave it to them they mix and match anyway!!

My two lovelies pick their own pears from the bottom of the tree or wait for windfalls.  They hold them between their paws, bite off the stalk, spit it out and proceed to devour!  They can also smell sharon fruit from 1000 paces!!!
