Just put a post on a gundog website that I go on, they are really good with recipes so fingers crossed that some of them on there will know a good recipe.

This is Delia's version :)

This seems to be a good basic recipe. Google turns up loads. :)

Don't ask JaneG, she likes that sloppy mess called bread & butter pudding.............;)

Bread and butter pudding is not a sloppy mess but a fluffy custard based pudding.  Custard Tarts adn sloppy?

Thanks you Barbara :)  (see sensible hound people like 'proper' bread and butter pudding)

:::humpfs at Christine and walks off muttering about sassenachs stealing our land and trying to change our customs :D

Well I love custard and b&b slops, sorry, pudding - ain't no custard!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 10.09.07 14:50 UTC
It sure should be as it is bascially buttered bread soaked in egg custard then cooked.

But the uncooked egg custard soaks into the bread and makes a mush. That's fine by me, I like the mush, but it's nothing like an egg custard (which again is totally different to Birds' custard!) on its own.

Comparing bread pudding to bread-and-butter pudding is like comparing chocolate cake to tiramisu, or fruit cake to a Victoria sponge! They're both delicious but totally different. :)

Definitely :) :) Bread and butter pudding should be light and not soggy !!! As JG says they are both delicious, but toally different. I'd happily serve my  homemade bread and butter pudding at a dinner party - but not bread pudding :D :D :D

I had the M&S bread and butter pudding at the weekend. I felt slightly sick after a few mouthfuls not because it was so lovely it was just hmmm not my cup of tea.  I was suprised as I can generally eat anything out of M&S..

Ah - but this isn't just anybody's bread and butter pudding, it's Daisy's bread and butter pudding ;) :D

Well Daisy you send me some and if it is a hit I will write to M&S so they can commission you :-)

Just think the wee fortune you could make :-)

LOL - I'll have to try some of M&S's (future DIL will be able to buy it cheaply - wouldn't want to pay full price) :) :). I think that mine is based on Delia's, so I'd miss out on the percentage :D :D :D
