Hi Candice,
Since the Netherlands is part of the EU, you can take advantage of the "Pet Passport" program. Basically, you have your rabies vaccination done. A couple of months later, your vet takes blood, submits it to an "official lab", if it comes back negative for rabies, your dog can travel into the UK six months later without quarantine.
As long as your rabies boosters are on time, you can take as much time as you want to go to the UK. Just don't go over that year mark for the boosters. :) I'm having Titre testing done next month so that in a year, if we move to the UK, we're clear on our dogs.
DEFRA website tells you all of the requirements if you click on "Pet travel scheme" on the left column.
