i went to see some staffy pups earlier and i couldnt believe it when the woman who owned the mother of the pups said she wasnt even 12 months old
and when i asked what the farther was....' i dont know what the dad is' was the reply i got and she seemed rarther anxious to get rid off all the pups so much she offered me and my dad 2 pups for £50
and by looking at the mum she didnt look like a staffy yet she was trying to pass off the pups as staffs even tho they were not
now personally i think her dog must have been caught by a male in the street hence the reason why the owner didnt know what breed the farther of the pups was.
i would like to know if the pups will have health problems as their mother was bred at an early age

Our dogs home is full of such, and depending on the purpose behind the Steffie or staffie cross's breeding the pups may or may not make good pets.  Who knows what genetic or other faults they will have, none from their Mum being young just the baggage that all living things carry in there genes.

Sounds very strange

With so many staffs being bred you'd be better off doing some research, contact your local Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club and go about it that way ;)  The KC should have a list of clubs ;)

Or you could go to your local dog's home/rescue or staffy rescue.  There you'll find many staffs all looking for a home :)

im amazed anyone would go and look at a litter wuthout finding out a lot more about the litter before going to see them!

Same here I would have more likely to have visited the sire, researched the pedigree, checked health screening before ever having a look at pups.

Makes me so angry

Thing is as long as buyers will accept such low standards there is nothing to prevent people breeding in such a shoddy way.

If all buyers insisted on health screening etc puppy farmers and casual breeders would not be able to sell their pups.  this would mean they either would not breed from them in the first place or if accidents happened would have their bitches jabbed or spayed.  If after that the odd unplanned litter were bred then they would work with a rescue centre to find good homes.

Rescues would have a lot fewer dogs as dogs would not be such an easily acquired commodity and less likely to be in need of rescuing, after all most would be re-homed through their breeders.

Not sure there will be any health problems with the mum being bred so young. I would be more bothered about the way they have been raised as the "breeder" obvioulsy has no idea and has probably done it on the cheap. As she has no idea who father is and you arnt certain mum is a actuall staffy I would have very loud alarm bells ringing. No health checks you could be buying a real hand full of problems. Better going to a reputable rescue who may be able to help out if you do have problems later on. Or a good breeder were you know exactly what you are getting.

What needs to happen is that the breeder needs to find they can't sell the pups and end up having to let a rescue have them.  They will then be keen not to repeat the matter and I would hope the rescue would insist she were spayed.

And the breeder would know who the pup had been sold to, and so know who was the person most likely to know why it came to be abandoned.
