I was wondering as I have to look at secondary schools for Matthew in sept, The school I want him to go to I dont live in the catchment area but his dad does he stays two- tree nights a week there anyway can I register with the school that he lives there or not. Out of all the schools I have look at this is the one we like best.

I don't know whether you'd be able to do it but this is what happened with my 2 neices ;)

I think you can but you may have to say that, that is his permanent address.  I got my daughter into a school way out of our catchment area with just good luck but I have spoken to other parents who have paid up to £200 to put there names on someone else's council tax bill to get there child in the same school. At least I have a clear conscience but compared to people like that I don't think you are doing anything wrong.

My daughter goes to a school that is miles away from the catchment we are in. Her father lives just 5 minutes from the school and we asked if she couldn't go there as it would be easier if there was a problem (school closing due to weather, daughter's illness, etc) She was allowed. She went into Secondary School last year and we went through the same thing. Had to ask again. She stays at her father's house from Friday night until Monday morning, so she goes straight from school and I don't have to wash the school clothes  ;)

Its really scary picking a school, in Ireland it was a case of convent or mixed school didnt have to worry about catchment areas.

I would try it, but remember if it doesn't work, you can appeal, long process but worth it for the best school.

No reason why you couldn't put her fathers address as her main address but then change it once she's at the school. :)

3 out of our 4 children go to a secondary school outside our area, we live in Bristol and they go to school in North Somerset, thankfully we didn't have any problems getting them in either.
