Dicksy the 4 yr old Cocker since going into Kennels for two weeks has started to take a liking to Biscuits rear end, Dicksy is intact and Biscuit not so. Biscuit does not even flinch when lying down and Dicksy is mounting his tail! This has only been happening since he came home from kennels (never before) and my husband thinks now is the time to take Dicksy to the vets to be neutered?? Is this the problem, is there another problem, how do I deal with it? If I had him neutered would it solve the problem? Many thanks in advance x
I sounds like Dicksy is just reasserting his dominance. It should ease with time once he realises he is home, and that Biscuit isn't really bothered by it. I wouldn't get him neutered until things are back to normal, if you really are convinced that neutering is the way to go. I don't think that neutering will make any instance to his humping at the moment. He will stop anyway, and you'll just put it down to him being neutered, which it probably won't be ;)

Poor boy needs to show everyone he's the boss again! :D
Shouldnt last long, are you planning to have him neutered anyway?

No wasn't planning on having him neutered! Hubby was just horrified that his dog was trying to hump mine and thought the answer was a trip to the vets! Me being said, whooo there! Let me ask on CD first and lo and behold that would have been unncecessary! So again I need to thanks x

If one of mine try that trick I usually bath the recipient of the undue attention and that sorts it.
I agree, at first bath maybe both dogs and see if matters settle down. If they don't within a fewdays, I'd suggest a vet visit.
Dogs can get excited when other dogs show low level infections and all sorts. Ultimately, if it continues, vet visit is the thing.
Hope it just disappears!!

Well there'll be a first for Biscuit as I've not bathed him since I've had him! Glad the bathroom is downstairs as he won't go anywhere near the stairs! We'll bath him tomorrow evening and hopefully that'll do the trick!

Didn't bath him, gave him a real good grooming and Dicksy has stopped, remarkebly Dicksy has also stopped whinging and wait for it..............tonight and last night he's been out on a lead! Walked perfect and no vocals!
Last night when I got back from walking Biscuit he met me in the hall and I said for a laugh, come on then Dick your turn now and showed him Biscuit's lead (at this point he would normally skulk to his bed) but he walked towards me! I slipped the lead on and took him around the block, he walked perfect! It was only a 5 min walk but impressive for him. Tonight the same although he didn't meet me in the hall, I called him, again put him on Biscuits lead and walked him around the bigger block for approx. ten mins. We're getting there slowly but surely with him. You never know one day I may be able to take em both out together! Let's hope he carries on progressing and doesn't regress again. Thanks for all your good advice re Dicksy, he's not the easiest dog in the world but with lots of patience we're getting there.

Who knows, maybe he's a little jealous of your walks with Biscuit and has decided to get in on some of that attention from mommy action. :-D Whatever the reason that's great news and I hope he continues to feel happy about going out. :)

I can't help wondering if someone local to you has one of those sonic cat repellers in their garden?? My MIL has one and it has to be turned off if I visit as I can't stand it and neither can my dogs ;)
