Yesterday evening me & my dog Molly were sitting on the settee & I pulled her towards me for a cuddle as usual & Molly yelped. She jumped of off the settee & went under the table shaking. I managed to coax her out with a biscuit, but she refused to come to me. She had her dinner as normal & physically she seems fine.
She slept on the floor by my bed last, where she usually sleeps on the bed & this morning when I stroked her she shook all over. Molly then came downstairs & hide between the 2 settes still looking nervous.
When I came home from work this afternoon I opened the back door & she just sat in her bed shaking, but tail wagging, usually she runs in all excitied. Molly is sitting next to me now, but I'm worried she thinks I'm going to hurt her, Mollys is a real Mummys girl usually. Do I ignore her behaviour & just act as normal? Any ideas?

I would say continue acting as normal, if you act differently it may confirm to her that you are acting strangely and worry her more, but always call her to you and don't try to pull her to you or pick her up, so that it is her choice.
She should forget about it after a while of everything being as usual.
Thanks Brainless, I'll carry on as usual then. It's heartbreaking when your dog is scared of you. Thanks again.

Has she maybe got an injury (or embedded object,Grass seed??) that you've inadvertantly touched?
Dogs can be very good at 'masking' an injury.
Just a thought for something to check.
Good luck :)
Molly has allowed my to feel for any lumps bumps etc.....I wonder if she/I just caught a muscle. The amount of times she wacks her head on the door while playing or playing rough with her friend Scooby & not a squeak out of her. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

You didn't give her a static shock did you? That might have made her jump.
Our Treacle yelped the other night when my daughter was playing with her, seemed to have hurt her paw. We couldn't get her to let us look so we took her to the vet where she had to be sedated to let the vet look and it turned out to be berry bugs in between her toes

. Cost us £50 what with all the sedation etc to have some bugs squished and guess what the insurance excess is? £50

What are berry bugs?

Edit: Ignore me. Thank you Google! :D

that's what I said, apparently they are like tiny orange ticks that burrow into the skin (yeuch)
Edit: I had to google too! :D
If it continues I'd take her for a vet check.
Sometimes dogs can have medical problems that can show up as odd behaviour. Not saying this is one, but I'd suggest to always err on the side of caution if it continues just in case ...

UPDATE:
As advised I have left Molly to come to me & slow but sure this has worked! I was concerned Friday evening when she wouldn't come to me to put her lead on, she just hid, but I didn't make a big thing of it. But during the night she came into my bedroom , put her 2 front paws on the bed, I could tell her tail was wagging as her body was wiggling!
It was a horrible few days having your dog being weary of you, but today Molly is 'back', happy to see me & no more hiding or shaking. Thanks to everyone for their help.
Anne & Molly
