Thank you for your support Margot :) Imogen was only 6 days old when she stopped breathing in her sleep. She was asleep in my arms whilst I dozed and I woke to find that she'd stopped breathing. We were lucky in a way because the doctors, we were still in the hospital, were able to resucitate her - it took them nearly 30mins. After 12 days of her being on a ventilator we realised that she wasn't going to make it and we had to turn the machine off :( She died in my arms nearly 2 hrs after we took her off the machine.
When Issy was a baby she was on a sleep monitor which made our lives so much easier - we knew that we didn't have to stay up at night and watch her as the machine would bleep if she stoped breathing. Mind you, we still took it in turns to stay up with her for the first 9mths of her life!!
Thanks for the tip about Asda - I do all my shopping there so I'll drop them a letter.
Thanks again for your support,
Fiona

I'm sorry for upsetting you Gina :( Cot Death is such a difficult subject to talk about but can strike any family with a child so it's really important that those babies at risk can be identified before anything happens to them. That's what this trek is all about - raising funds for further research into those most at risk of Cot Death.
There's also a huge drive to standardise (not sure if that's a word or not!!) the responses of the emergency services and health care professional after the event. If everyone follows the same precise investigative procedures then hopefully it'll become easier to identify why babies are dying.
Before we lost Imogen we never, ever thought it would happen to us but after she died we found out that she fullfilled 5 of the 8 most commonly used criteria for a cot death :(
I hope I haven't upset you again, but Cot Death is something I feel so passionately about it's very hard to stop me once I get going :)
Thank you so much for your support - I've now got nearly £1000 promised in sponsorship money and I only started fundraising at 1pm on Tuesday :)

Fiona,
I don't think most people will mind if you don't send receipts as it is expense you could use for your charity.
That is good you are feeling positive about it and it wil help you with your dealing with it.
I am a bit down just now but probably the weather and work load. I do Reiki although stuggling for time but going to take time out in 2 weeks and do my second degree in it.. it is over 2 full days and it is heaven. You are at total peace with yourself and everything around you infact I fell in a trance for a good couple of days after it.
I think I am going to try and less PC and more me for a while.
BFN Fiona..

Fiona count me in for a tenner:) If you have any ideas- formal letters etc that I could take into work- I could try to get a few quid out of that meesly lot:) Mind you though they're accountants so don't bank on it being much:rolleyes: What about making a poster of somesort with a photo of yourself- I could add that to a teddy (the kids won't miss;) ) and have a kind of 'guess the name' thing going? Write say 30 names- people pay £1 to take a guess at the name and whoever gets the name right- wins the teddy? Sounds daft I know but I saw it done once to raise money for cancer and it proved quite successful? If not- any way you can possibly think of- and I promise I'll do my best:)

It's not a daft idea - it's a great idea :)
I'll email you this evening with some more details as I won't be on line today. I was up all night crying with relief that everything is ok with my sister and Hannah and I'm now completely exhausted.
I hadn't realised how worried I'd been the last few months until Nic phoned to say they were all ok. Home deliveries are perfectly safe but it hasn't stopped me worrying.
I'll talk to you all later,
Fiona

Thanks Leigh - I keep trying to sleep, but I'm too excited. :) I'm sorting out baby clothes at the moment to pass onto Nic and Hannah.
Nic's really superstitious and hasn't got anything ready at all, so all Hannah has got is 6 babygros and 6 vests!!!

How's your little girl getting on with her training? I've started training Holly to come back to a whistle and it's going very well - she's quick to learn, but quick to forget as well!!!

Fiona, I look forward to receiving it.
She's getting on pretty well I think. It's been nearly 4 months now, and it seems a lot longer. I called him last month and I got the feeling that thier honeymoon period is over, and she's started to play him up. He said that he doesn't praise her anymore, otherwise she gets all hyper and it all goes to pot, so he keeps it business like till she gets back to the kennel. I know what he's talking about as when I used to praise her she would get extremely excited with me and start running around in circles getting faster and faster, just out of reach of course, and that would pretty much end any training for that session. So all he has to do is funnel that excitement and enthusiasm into working and she'll be a cracking dog. I must admit, it brings a smile to my face to think she's giving him a hard time :)
