Topic Dog Boards / General / Patterdale Terriers Question
- By Leigh [gb] Date 20.09.02 07:57 UTC
I have just been informed that the Kennel Club now recognise the Patterdale Terrier. Do you know if a interim standard has been published yet? I have looked at the KC website but can not find any reference to Patterdales :-)

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanx

No Leigh I can't, would have thought the it would be in the press part of the KC site if it were so. Have not yet got a dog paper may be it is in there. Jackie

Leigh,
The KC was opening up Jack Russell registration to allow dogs registered with two other clubs to apply for KC reg for a limited period, could this be the base of what you have been told, I thought this had been mentioned here tho'

Don't think it has officially been recognised, the "working" standard has always been vague, often they refer to them as "Fell Terriers" too. All shapes/colours and coat types, I have seen, but the Patterdale I know is usually rough coated and black or chocolate.

Hi Dawn
Saw one on Vets in Practice last night, and an aquaintance got a bitch pup from NCDL 2 years ago which was alledgedly a Patterdale, she is the right sort of size, look, temperament etc but is smooth coated.

In my defence, I was waiting for Eastenders. ;)

I watch it to get a kick out of working out what is wrong quicker than them :-)

Hi Nicky.
Yes they can be smooth coated too, but usually black or chocolate colour, wheras the Fell Terriers are usually Red and rather smart!
