Unless they are a cavalier person it will be clipping & if he coat is short & fluffy it has already been clipped :rolleyes: Why do peeps get a long coated dog & then clip them Grrrrr my pet hate.He won't need clipping or cutting if his coat is short, a good qualitity shampoo & leave in condition will sort him out. If his ears are ready bad they will need trimming on the inside so that they will be easier to clean. He might need a deep clean of his ears by teh sound of it. If he's frightened of your puppy then he certainly won't have killed a cat

I have four friends who are groomers & they never ever clip a Cavalier even if they are asked to

I think you are right that it has already been clipped as it was alot shorter than my boys coat!!

It does sound rather like an excuse to get rid of the dog to me. He hasn't got a heart condition or something has he - that they might have had to start paying for treatment for.....

ETA just read thro rest of thread and seen other people have said the same.

If it's not too late please please don't let them clip his fur - if you use a Coat King or thinning scissors you can tidy a fluffy coat and it won't ruin it like clipping does. :-(

My friend's Cavaliers have killed her neighbours chickens in the past so I could believe the guinea pigs and rabbits, but the cat sounds most unlikely!
