Us too - Our blue eye girl been locked in the garage for a while now  Are you still thinking of Ninja Lea
- By Lea Date 21.07.07 20:22 UTC
YEP :D :D :D
I keep going back to them!!!!!!
Been told I should get a hornet as its a good first bike BUT if I get a bike I will have it for a good few years, and really want a Ninja or ninja type!!!!!!!
And Ric said if I get one, once we are both practiced we can have the kids on the back. One on each so wont hacve to worry about farming them out every time :D :D :D :D :D
Oh well, just a dream. :(
Lea :)
- By Wizaid [gb] Date 21.07.07 20:26 UTC
Dreams are what keep us going though Lea something to look forward too, I dream one day I might have a DB7 LOL not much chance of that unless I win the lottery and I have to play it first  But you have every chance of realising your dream

I had friend (girl) who had a Hornet nice bikes, one of our friends had a 250 aprilla my life that thing could shift for a small bike

Have fun and great to hear everything is going well for you and Ric I am really pleased for you both

Lea ( I am the party pooper)  was Ric experienced in bike riding before passing his test? Just was a bit worried about you being a passenger already. sorry :-)
- By Daisy [gb] Date 21.07.07 22:01 UTC
Have to agree with you, Blue :( Sorry, Lea - but only last Sunday an 11 year old boy was killed on the M25 riding pillion on his father's bike :( Obviously lots of people ride quite safely - but I wouldn't be happy on the back of a motorbike - let alone taking a child :( :(

Sorry Lea - only concerned for your welfare :) :)

Me three, I'm afraid. :( I've had far too many friends injured or even killed on motorbikes to feel any joy in them. Sadly they belong only on the racetrack nowadays, not the roads. Please take care.

Having spent 3 years in plaster following a woopsie on the back of Hubbies bike I'll be a party pooper too I'm afraid :o
Don't get me wrong we still go out and enjoy the bike and my Hubbie still gives it a bit of welly when appropriate but he has learnt a lot in 30 years of motorbiking.  Although he enjoys the thrill of giving it welly round the bends he takes no extra risks that bring no thrill, for instance, he would never take the bike out in wet weather and you never see him doing that crazy thing of driving down between lanes of traffic.
Enjoy your biking but please don't get over excited :) and maybe leave the kids at home until you have a couple of years experience :).
- By luvhandles Date 21.07.07 23:19 UTC
I've been brought up around motorbikes - brothers track raced - 1 at grand prix level, family have bike business and we too now have our own business trading bikes BUT.........I don't like them. My husband has been riding for over 20 years and I can't rest when he's out let alone when he takes our boys out - its not always the rider - see the THINK BIKE ad on TV. Hubby took our 9 year old out tonight on the back of ZX1000 and I just didn't rest although I know that he would never be silly with someone so precious on board however you just never know - we have lost so many friends through bike accidents - one that will never leave me is a lovely lady Glenys, she came in work one particular Sunday and we chatted, one of the sales staff was off that particular day and she left him a note saying see you soon - on her way home she and her hubby were killed because a foriegn mini bus driver pulled out on them. We got a call on the Monday from their distraught daughter telling us that her parents hed been killed  :-(  You need eyes absolutely everywhere when on a bike.
- By Lea Date 22.07.07 08:55 UTC
Dont panic you all, Neither of us would take the boys out on the bikes until we had alot more experience!!!!!
And nope, I will shock you, he hadnt had any other training before his test. But is a very good rider and is NOT taking any risks at all. If he did I would NOT go on the back with him.
I am afraid I have decided life is worth living!!!! I have had so much sh** over the last 14 years, I have just realised what life is all about.
I could be killed tommorow in my car which I do alot more miles in!!!!
Interestingly enough, I will go NOWHERE near electric hedge cutters and mowers, they SCARE me, and cany understand why they are made. I think they are death traps!!!!! But put me on the back of a bike, and I am fine!!!!!
I feel its all about risk vurses happyness.
Well at the moment I am choosing having the best time in my life!!!!!!!!

Just twigged!!!
Lea :)
- By luvhandles Date 22.07.07 12:11 UTC
No Lea, my name comes from the fact that I have 'interesting bumps' over the top on my waistband  :-o  :-P
- By Lea Date 22.07.07 12:16 UTC
LMAO, oh well!!!!
You could have got away with that one LMAO
Lea :)
- By Isabel Date 22.07.07 09:14 UTC
All I am saying is enjoy your kicks but don't take the unecessary risks :)
My Hubbie indulges is a lot of dangerous sports.  He has dived all over the world, he skies harder and faster than any Brit I know, he has white water rafted on the Zambesi and he loves his biking (I don't quite understand how we ended up together :)).  I don't think either of us could regret something happening when he loves doing all these things and that is his life but we would both consider it rather silly to get killed on a low speed skid in wet weather or because some motorist did not notice him coming up between traffic on the left.
I have to say if you have just started riding a bike I am not sure that you can really say you are a good rider :)  All the statistics point to experience levelling out some of the dangers and what are the chances that all those novices thought they had it sorted ;)
- By Wizaid [gb] Date 22.07.07 14:43 UTC
Must admit I have seen some awful bike accidents around here all resulting in death  It is sad that often a limited few ruin it for the rest of us, we have a bike meet every tuesday evening at a local pub and it shocks me how people ride

I never entertained getting on OH bike until he had been riding for a few years, My biggest thing is we do not ride in pack just on our own, we just get out for an easy ride when the weather is nice.

It has certainly my made me appericate how do drive when I am in the car too, you see so much more on a bikes and so many more dangers to consider.

Today we saw two lads on huge bikes with t shirts and jeans on - Drives me mad

Lea - forget the motorbike you won't need one if you take up this sport :eek:http://www.youtube.com:80/watch?v=LWLbu1wIIEo&mode=related&search
- By Isabel Date 29.07.07 21:42 UTC
Wow, that's what you call being in touch with the road
- By dollface Date 08.08.07 00:04 UTC Edited 08.08.07 00:08 UTC
Lea did he get a GSX-R 1000? Thats what our friend has- one hot bike thats for sure- he looks like a wasp on it lol His bike is all in yellow and black and his gear is the same...

We finally got sliders on our monster wooohooo!!! Hoping to get out on it if it stays nice this weekend... Hubby thinks I should get a monster as well instead of a 749 ducati- just because of my wrists he thinks laying down like that on the 749 will be to much for my wrists and I won't be able to ride that long- so who know's maybe I will go for a Ducati Monster S2R 1000 like he has....

We were out on the highway- hubby had us going 210 and our friend on the GSX-R had his at 230- now personally both the guys got in **** from us girls cause there is really no need to go that fast especially with us on the back, you wouldn't be able to avoid anything and I really don't feel like being roadkill- thats just crazy... But the Monster sure handles nice-

Have you rode the bike yet or are you just passenger like me right now? I find the seat is alot higher on the gixxer where the monster is the same level- but either way on both bikes you still get stuck holding onto the tank lol

Enjoy :)

Where are you from, are you in the UK too?
- By STARRYEYES Date 08.08.07 18:51 UTC

We just had an accident (topic in chat) well him- but long term we, sure wish we could get out and ride- sure miss that freedom- do hope the bike isn't too messed up thought-

Enjoy your ride and please please be safe and always have all your gear on an ID- you will have to tell me more about this intercom cause we would love to get one- and can you communicate with more then just the 2 of you- can it go with fellow riders lets say 3-4 people? Where about would I find one? I don't want anything big- is it small? Sorry for all the questions...
- By Fablab [gb] Date 19.08.07 05:38 UTC Edited 19.08.07 05:45 UTC
There's lots of places about that sell these sort of intercoms HERE for example.

Oh, and my commiserations to your husband, in my 40 plus years of riding bikes I've broken both my tib & fib & my ankle (separate incidents) one on the track and the others the fault of car drivers, it kinda comes with the territory I'm afraid ! :(
- By Lea Date 19.08.07 16:44 UTC
Well I have just got back!!!!
The Ride over there took a total of about 9 hours, with about 2 1/2 hours of stops!!!!!
Lasted 1 1/2 hours first leg, 1 3/4 second then a quick stop about 2 hours later then right through. My bum hurt LOL
The weather was ace, the views were fantastic :D :D :D
The race was GREAT and we came in 15 minutes before us or any of the other striders thought we would LMAO So WELL impressed.
The ride home through Wales was great as the rain held off, but when we got back into England it started to rain and never really stopped LOL
But it was still a good ride :)
I felt very safe on the Pan Europian, safer than the other bikes :)
The intercom was worth its weight in gold :) Ric agrees as well that it would have been a very boring ride of we didnt have it (it was £12 off ebay, but we are looking into getting one that doesnt have to go in your ears as they are now sore LOL
I had the time opf my life :) :) :)
Lea :)
