I hope that someone can give me some advice.  So far this year I have had to have 3 courses of intravenious antibiotics, I am lucky and can do them myself at home, the hospital inserts a PICC line for each course http://www.thefurrymonkey.co.uk/picc.htm.  But now my veins are getting fed-up with all these antibiotics and are starting to go on-strike :rolleyes:  I know that it is time for me to start thinking about getting a port-a-cath :(  I have an appointment to speak to my team at the end on May about this.  I would really like to have it done under local anesthetic but am a total wimp when it comes to pain!   Help!

I think they are done under local rather then general so you should be ok :) Poor you having to go through all this though :(

Lets hope it sorts things out and makes it more bearable for you :)

Well, it's in. :D  I did decide to have a local, and I'm sooooo glad I did. I went to hospital yesterday morning, was taken into theatre at 1000hrs and was on my way home by 1530hrs. :D :D :D

I'm sore and stiff today - but VERY relieved! I have spent the last 2 months worrying for nothing. :rolleyes:

Glad to hear it wasnt too bad, hope the soreness & stifness eases soon, rest up {gentle hug} :)

So glad it's over, and wasn't as bad as you feared. How awful to worry about it for so long, hope it makes things a little easier now :)

Good news. Glad it went so well for you and it's all over with now. Put your feet up and get the dogs to make you a nice cuppa. :)
