There was an excellent article in the September issue of "the Field" which might help.

Hi Jackie,
My hubby's father, grandfather, and uncles used to raise Brittanys for hunting in the US. Hubby still has fond memories of going out on freezing morning looking for whatever it is that hunters look for with his two dogs :)

I can tell you that Brittanys are basically "puppies until they drop." Good tempered, but do need quite a bit of daily exercise, especially males.
A warning here --- similar to other gun dogs, those that were bred for working are different from those that participate in dog show competitions--- or at least in the US, this is definitely true.
The bodies, coat, and shapes are different within the two "professions" just due to the intents of the different breeders. If you are not planning on hunting or training it as a gundog, you should consider investigating the non-working (show) side of the breed.
hth a bit. good luck

They are extremely stubborn :D

Try the Brittany Club of Great Britain

Oh yes, I agree with that statement, Leigh, after hearing some tales from hubby about them  They also think they're "immortal" :) :)
Still, imo, not as stubborn as a good terrier, though :D :D :D :D
