Hi All
OK...I need some help from all you Mummies. My best friend just gave birth to her first baby this morning :) Obviously, I will be visiting and taking a present for the baby too and I'd like to get my friend a little gift too but I have no idea what would to get for her. So, what would all you Mums have liked to receive when you had just had your babies?? I have a feeling that my first instinct of a large bottle of gin and ear plugs might not be considered appropriate :D

something to pamper herself with you can get some nice bits int the baby section in boots or flowers or chocs. I recieved a basket of expensive creams and potions after I had one of mine it was wonderfull to relax while hubby took care of the baby
Lovely scented candles and bath soak! ( for your friend.....not the baby!! :) :) )

Some lovely handmade 'Girl's night out' or 'I promise to babysit' vouchers.
Some face masks, foot soaks, etc in a little basket.
And a quiet whisper in her ear about the 'usefulness' of 'magic knickers'

"And a quiet whisper in her ear about the 'usefulness' of 'magic knickers' "
do tell for those of us who lead more sheltered lives, I'm agog???
>'I promise to babysit' vouchers.
My friend knows me too well to EVER trust me to babysit!!

:D If it doesn't have a leg on each corner and go 'woof' occasionally, then I'm afraid I really don't know what to do with puppies of the 2-legged variety  :D
Pssst Brainless.....
magic knickers

LOL interesting link, don't know which product was being refereed to, but it seems to be something to shape and slim.

So exciting, the first baby.
It will be like all her birthdays and Christmases at once.
So with that in mind absolutley any thing is sure to please her.

A month of diaper service :-D We used to get together and get a year's diaper cleaning service for our workmates in my old lab. Best present any of them ever got. (assume such a thing exists here!)
yep, there are nappy cleaning services for the old fashioned type of nappy, then there are nappy deliveries for the disposable type too, along with all the other bits and bobs needed.
I would go with the 'pamper' type of gifts, and slip in a bottle of bio oil, excellent for stretch marks :)

Thanks for all your ideas guys :)
I went for a big box of chocs and some luxury pampering stuff which she was delighted with :) I also got Daddy a book (zen guide to fatherhood called 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Toddler :D ) so that he wouldn't feel left out. Baby Emma is a little beauty. I am famous for NOT being a baby person but with her, I could
almost be tempted

;) :D
How long before they are old enough to appreciate shopping for shoes and handbags?? :D
Thats a really thoughtful, remembering dad. :) They very often seem to be forgotton ;) well, after they stop screaming 'my hands hurt' :P :P :D :D
if you feel tempted.....put a stone firmly between the knees and hold till the feeling wears off....:D
Shopping....about 5 years old for girls ;) :P :P
