Hi all,

can anyone recommend somewhere that I can get my dogs fur spun into yarn suitable for knitting?

Many thanks :)

Friend of mine used Lesley Marsden

Do you want any donations? Have three moulting Rough Collies, so could send loads ... was just looking at tonight's bag and thinking I should get it spun. :D

I've been thinking about this too!! I saw an item on CountryFile a few months ago and thought at the tme - what a great idea!!!
I have 4 hairy beasties at home and would love to have their hair spun into yarn!!
(not that I can knit....but I'm sure I can find someone who can )

I keep on saying I'll have it done with my gang.  May just save Lastar's and Carina's next clippings as they are both due to be done and a woman at a gamefair earlier this year who was spinning said that their fur would be ideal.

Do quite fancy the idea of a nice Collie hair rug ...

Bet it costs a fortune.

I've got a Collie hair cardi! :)  I don't wear it to dog shows as I got unwanted attention from the male dogs. :)

Well, that was your excuse anyway Val ... !!

Don't fancy clothes, but really fancy a blanket. Where did you get yours spun? This is just topical because ALL I'm doing in the evenings at the moment is grooming out, prior to bathing the lot of them.

A friend did it for me but she's given me her spinning wheel now and I haven't learned to use it!  It was one of those projects that I was going to do when I retired to the coast! ;)

I was seriously thinking of making my afghans fallen out fur into felt...I could insulate my whole house with it!

Wow, I'd never heard about spinning dog hair

Over the last few weeks Henry (we think collie X) has moulted for Britain, if only I'd known :D :D :D

I very often go out in Leonberger hair clothes, my car has leonberger hair seat covers, and my frontroom is leonberger hair carpeted :)

And my poor hoover works overtime :P

LOL at Missie :-D I used to think about making yarn out of my Keeshond's post-grooming sack of hair.

When we had Kerries, we spun their clippings, and I've got a lovely long cardi thing made from it.   But we did have to card the clippings with some of our own wool - luckily we had lavender Jacob, so it was the same colour!
