How do people wash their dog beds? My dogs have got the big oval dog beds made of fabric, with blankets in. I was the blankets regularly but the actual bed needs a good wash, but i'm not sure if it would go in the washing machine. What do others do?
Only the furry insert bit has washing instructions on my dog bed but I've washed the other bit as well and its been fine. Hoover it first to get the hairs off then give it a quick whoosh with vanish then wash at 30 degrees. Comes out fine. Mine's a small bed though, which does fit OK in the machine. Alternatively you could use a scrubbing brush and some stardrops or something similar if the bed's too big for the machine.
Take them to the Laundrette and use the big tub machine for workmens clothes (sneak them in wrapped in a quilt tho' those old dragons that work laundrettes have eyes like hawks for people smuggling in machine clogging items! :D ;) ) you pay a bit but worth it not to have your machine clogged or to get your hands dirty (:D) Simply sit down and enjoy the sights!!!! :D
With my own duvets that won't fit in the machine I go to the commercial launderette, which might be an idea with bigger dog beds.

I can just about shove the beds into the washing machine - but only do it when it is really hot weather so that they dry quickly. Bramble just wouldn't know where to sleep if he didn't have his bed :( Tara couldn't care less - she prefers to either sleep in her cage (with only a plastic tray) or on the tiled kitchen floor :D
