Heres a strange question from a GSD person
I,m wondering what the difference is between wafcol chicken or beef menu and wafcol greyhound , the reason I,m asking is my local pet shop is closing and I,ve got the chance of a couple of fifteen kg bags of greyhound food for next to nothing.
I,ve looked on the bags and the protien levels oil and fibre are identical to what my girls already eat so I,m thinking of buying it to mix through their existing food.
What do you all think?

It'll depend on wether its the Maintanence or Racing? (Blue bag / red bag)
Racing is high (blended) protein and high fibre and dont forget there will be added Glucose to consider!
ingredients for Racing so you can see difference between wafcol chicken/beef:
INGREDIENTS
Whole Wheat Flour, Meat Meal, Soya, Bran, Chicken Oil, Fish,
Glucose, Dried Milk, Dried Egg, Yeast, Vitamins and Minerals
TYPICAL ANALYSIS
Protein  27  %  Vitamin A  15800  iu/kg  Calcium     2.2 %
Oil  10  %  Vitamin D3  2920  iu/kg  Phosphorus 1.5 %
Ash  8  %  Vitamin E  55  mg/kg
Fibre  5  %

HTH? :)

OMG the ingredients in the racing formula are woeful  :( If the maintenance is similar(anyone got the ingredients) i would give this food a big miss,i wouldnt feed it if it was free!

How can a company produce such a good formula such as the salmon and potato and then churn out something like this, they have either got a healthful feeding philosophy or they dont

unless your dog has problems with wheat then the food has suited a lot of dogs fro may years.  I always found that the flat button shape they used (the newer versions don't) kept teeth nice and clean, but then my dogs are the kind that chew.

I used it on the spayed bitches that I found had to have their rations severely curtailed, and it kept them satisfied, and kept them from recycling.

Have to admit all but my nearly 10 year old (she gets the Autarky adult at 22% protein) are on Arden Grange adult, even though I do have to cut it to about 150g for some of them.

Here's the website addresses for both

<a class='url' href='http://www.wafcol.co.uk/content/greyhound/greyhound.html'>http://www.wafcol.co.uk/content/greyhound/greyhound.html</a>

<a class='url' href='http://www.wafcol.co.uk/frames/wafcol.html'>http://www.wafcol.co.uk/frames/wafcol.html</a>

my only query would be that there is no ingredients list for the Greyhound foods   I like to see what ingredients are listed before comparing different foods ;)   On the other hand Greyhounds need to be kept in tip-top condition so the food must be adequate ;)  In the end only you can decide ;)

WOW HG, where did you get that list?  It wasn't on the Wafcol site

The lack of VAT basically as the Greyhound is a working dog food.

When I used it for one of mine that coudl only ahve very little food without getting fat I always used the greyhound versions.  The biscuit wwas very airy so you got a lot in a bowl that didn't weigh much so the dog ate slower (they were big falt pieces) and appered to get more.  Important when your feedign just 4 ounces of dry food to a 20Kg bitch.

Thanks everyone for your replies Its the maintainance one so I think I.ll go with it and spin it out in their normal wafcol diet.
There definitely won,t be a prpblem with one of them not liking it so it won,t go to waste.
Just hope it doesn,t make them run faster:rolleyes:
