I'm sure that most of you by now will have registered that the Countryside March clashes with this show. Please take a little time to understand what the March is all about, especially if you own Gundogs, which by definition are active sporting country dogs.

Although the initial motivation was in response to a hunting ban, the ramifications are now obvious to all dog owners and countryside people - not only those who hunt by any manner of means. The reasons, in a nutshell, are

March and Campaign Mission

"We demand that Government:

Defends the right of rural people to live their lives responsibly in the way they choose
Safeguards rural people from prejudiced attacks on hunting with dogs and all other field sports
Respects the values and customs of rural communities
Ensures any laws directed at rural people have their consent
Addresses the real problems of the countryside which are destroying its communities, its culture, and its children's future"

If you really cannot attend the March , but agree with the principles, you can register too March in Spirit by phoning 0900 102 0900 - numbers really do matter.

People who really can't get out of going to the show because they are working, will being wearing their support in the form of *Liberty & Livelihood* T-Shirts and Sweatshirts. I also heard a rumour that card board cut out dogs will be making an entry in protest.

I've just noticed that our breed entry is fairly low, only 90 compared with Darlington and Birmingham of 150+ So hopefully a few weimar supporters will be there! I'll be there in spirit :-)

Having said that I overheard someone at the weekend saying not many people work weimars, well only maybe if they live on farms in Scotland

...but I wouldn't mind betting that a few weimars have been known to chase the odd squirrel etc when out on a walk!!! ;-) They'll be for the high jump just as much as the rest of us!!
