Topic Dog Boards / Health / kENNEL COUGH??
- By WestiesRock [gb] Date 27.07.07 20:56 UTC
My two Westies have just come out of kennels (last Sunday) and one of them seems to have the symtoms of 'kennel cough' (that horrible honky bark and throwing up).  Would this be possible if they were both vacinated against it 2 months before going in?? - Im getting a little worried about him, and a trip to the vets tomorrow morning is a certain i think!!

There are many bacteria and viruses that cause similar symptoms, and are generally lumped together as 'kennel cough'. The vaccine provides pretty good (though even the manufacturers freely admit it's not 100%) immunity against some of them. When you take your dog to the vet make sure you keep him in the car until your appointment so that you don't fill the waiting room with infection.

Hope it's nothing serious. :)

I gave benalin (children's version) to Jasper - he was sneezing a lot at after a show and there was a dog there that was coughing, I gave him benalin and it seemed to work
Vaccinations don't always protect against the disease we are trying to prevent unfortunately :(

And keep your dogs away from others for 21 days..
