Topic Dog Boards / General / Which car ?

Can anyone suggest a 7 seater car which still has enough room for a dog cage in the back ?

7 seats and a crate? We use a Galaxy for shows which comfortably seats 5 adults and if you take out the back 2 seats, has plenty of room for crates and show gear. But if you want 7 seats plus the crates, you're probably looking at something nearer a van. :-)

I have always thought that a transit van would be very useful !
However , i've seen a Toyota - possibly a Previa - this looks like it's got a big boot . It also looks as big as a bus !
Any other suggestions welcome .

There is a Transit van with 6 seats - the double cab in van. I think the Toyota Estima is really big but you might need to import it. The Chrysler Grand Voyager is supposed to have a huge boot too but not very good on safety? We have an espace but we take out the back 2 seats to get our cage in. I don't know if the Grand Espace would have room for a cage? I didn't think it was that much bigger than the espace.

Depending on the size of the crate try a Volkswagon Touran, the seats fold flat into the floor and its a good size, I had one as a hire car when my own was off the road, or, if you are looking for an estate with a huge boot space, the vauxhall Vectra would take two good size prams. I found the vauxhall more comfortable than the volkswagon to drive.

If you want 7 seats and cage room then the renault grand espace or the chrsyler grand voyager are about the only two that would offer this. Other than that you're talking about vans, a VW transporter is a reasonable mid way point, although I personally love transits.

My brother has a Mercedes Vito which would probably fit the bill.  It has 6 removable seats and would easily accommodate a crate as well but is more like a transit type van.

The Ssanyong Rodius is pretty roomy but not sure if you'd get a crate in it.
