I have a Pet Passport. I also read somewhere that an "Export Health certificate" was required......is this right and if so where do I get one from?
I know we need to get him checked by a vet before we come back to the U.K. How do I go about locating a Vet, particularly one who will have a microchip reader and who has the correct forms to fill in?
I have been told about a collar called "Scalibor" which can be prescribed by my vet which will give some protection against some diseases from sandflies, maybe ticks, but any other tips or advice gratefully received!

Seemed like a good idea at the time of booking it. I knew there were things that had to be done but now its getting complicated and we cant leave it as its all been paid for. Someone tell me they have done it and it was okay, please!

No Export Certificate required as you are not exporting your dog

The vet in France doesn't have any forms to fill  in just the relevant bit of the PP

Of course your dog can't come back into the UK until six months after the blood was taken for the rabies titre test.

I assume that you had his Rabies vaccine and the blood sample taken more than 6 months before the date you will be returning to the UK?

It is important that you find a vet to administer the tick and tapeworm treatment at least 24 hours before retuning to UK but less than 48 hours before landing back on UK soil, as MM said they just need to complete the relevant parts of the pet passport now, so no worry about them ahving the correct forms.

Rabies was done last year in anticipation of one day going to France.
Other thing about finding vets is that they say not all vets have a chip reader?

"If you are having the treatment for your pet done in France, there is a sample copy of the official French certificate of treatment on this site. You may wish to print this and take it with you to show the vet in France. Please note the vet cannot fill in this sample certificate."
This implies a separate form from the Passport....have you come across this or am I worrying too much?  I just want to get it right. Dont want to have him put in quarantine cos I didnt get all the right papers. Easier to say and do once you have already done it but this is MY first time!!?

Why not phone the French embassy in London?

I think you will find that the quote refers to pets that have the old certificates as there are spaces in the PP for the tick & worm treatment & it only has to be recorded in the PP

Have a look at the most recent factsheet on the defra site if you scroll down you will find the information on the procedure on return

That certificate was used before they created a proper passport where everything is in one place, I have had both.
