My boyfriend and i are hoping to breed from his bitch at the end of this year/beginning of next year. She is a fantastic worker and has a temperament to die for, she is everything we want in a dog and am hoping to keep a puppy. However we are new to breeding, although we do have the back up of a very good friend, who is a vet and we are trying to do as much research as we can.
We have found a stud dog that we like the look of,but have no idea what we should do next. Is there any no nos when speaking to potential stud dog owners? I was thinking of sending them an e mail telling her all about maisy and the type of dog we are looking for and see if she would be willing to let us use her dog, but i don't want to do anything that may look stupid as we are really keen on this dog!

Most dog people are pleased to recieve mail/email from other genuine dog people, especially if it's because they like your dog :) Try and put as much info as possible in it - a one line "can I use your dog at stud" would be binned by me :D
I wouldn't enclose pictures at first if you're emailing as some people won't open mail with attachments from people they don't know. Send an email first and ask them in that if they'd like to see photos of your girl.
