Topic Dog Boards / Health / Season help?

My friend has a bitch that came into season normally and it progressed as normal its just that she is on day 35 now and she still hasnt stopped bleeding entirely, its only a matter of drips when waking and she isnt no longer swollen should she be concerned?
It is her 1st season by the way and we both know 1st seasons are erratic but 35days?? shes booked into the vets tomorrow but was wondering if anyone else has any opinion on this?

Thanks

I'd be worried if mine were that long, mine are usually in for around 3 and a bit weeks, but this in my opinion is too long.  Hope all goes well at the vets.

It could be though that she had a false start bleed for a few days stopped and then started all over again, have had that happen so she could in fact not have had a season for 35 days.

I would pop her to the Vet to check it isn't an infection brewing.

I did have a season go on for a full month in one of my girls who went on to have a lst litter on the next season.

the Vet said prolonged seasons are often a sign of cystic ovaries, but I suspect a stop start first season myself if there is no infection.

Thanks Brainless we have thought that as she has an entire dog so you can imagine the mess she got herself in :D as she didnt know when to put him into kennels, he was excited with her at day 21 i think off hand and it was a very light season all the way through stopping in parts so yes i think you are right...

Thanks.. :)
