hello,
woundering if anyone could help me with this my sister has a dog who she brought with pedigree but not registered, could she register it herself?? if so would she need the signiture of the dam/sires owners? (she was told the parents are registered, but they didn't see the point as it was for the pet market)
regards
caroline

hmmm sounds a bit fishy to me :(
Did she pay over the odds because it had pedigree?
also I hope she also see the pedigree certificate with the previous sires/dams etc otherwise the litter would have been registered when it was born by the KC, the only reason they wouldnt have registered it is becasue the litter was not registerable! ie dam had another litter  too soon and the KC wouldnt register it for that reason.
wait for others to have their say but.............sounds strange the people wouldnt register it just because it was for the pet market......

Only the breeder can register puppies on the pedigree register with the Kennel Club.  With an attitude like that, I would have advised her to walk away from the breeders. :(

well thats my sister for you, doesn't listen to anyone, and she took her two children with her to see the litter so you can guess what happened, she didn't pay over the odds, but she was just in a rush to get a dog which is where alot of people go wrong, just woundered if she could register it, but i guessed it wouldn't be that easy

Hi

may sound a bit daft but if it is just a pet why does she want to register it?

Only the owner of the bitch at time of whelping can register a litter and they require the signature of the Stud owner to confirm the mating.  both parents have to be Kennel Club registered.

As registration is only £12 per puppy and KC registered pups are usually a bit dearer than unregistered pups then I would seriously doubt that the litter were registrable.  This could be for a variety of reasons, most not good.  For example the parents may not be registered (may not even be purebred), mother may have been too old or young, or had too many litters, or may not have belonged to the breeder.

I believe the bitch was endorsed so that explains it
- By Brainless [gb] Date 14.07.07 14:32 UTC
The reasons for endorsement are usually that the dog is unsuitable for breedign or that the breeder requires to see that it grow up to be a decnet enough animal to be bred from, and most importantly theat the health tests are done.

What breed is it, Caroline?
- By Carolineckc Date 14.07.07 14:42 UTC
its a golden lab
- By Brainless [gb] Date 14.07.07 14:52 UTC
Golden Retriever or Yellow Labrador, no such beastie as a golden Lab, unless it is a cross of the two breeds. :D

:confused:um.....i'll go for lab, i think

Then she should have asked for eye test, hip and elbow results before buying the puppy too or she may have a liability and not an assett. :(  Pups are endorsed for a reason. :(

Please everyone else realise that pups are not only endorsed if there's a fault!  Many breeders endorse their pups and will only remove them under certain circumstances i.e.  dog has good health test results later in life and may improve the breeds lines et.

Just what I wrote, though spelling as usual bad.  I endorse all the litter and only lift once health tests are done and the animal is a worthy enough specimen for breeding from.
