can anyone give me any info on this breed. I am looking at the hairless type not the powder puff. If anyone has had experiance of this breed I would very much like to know as much as possible about any type of inherited conditions they may be prone to and also about their characters care of their skin etc.

Hi Sue,

If you PM 'Misstyko' (Her name is Caron) she has a chinese crested, so Im sure she can help you out and point you in the right direction.. I cant remember if she has the hairless, but she's a lovely lady and will help if she can Im sure.
Hope this helps till you get any response from other CC owner/breeders. :)

I inherited 3 chinese cresteds. They are great little dogs, absolute characters. The hairless ideally should have a bath every day or at least once a week with baby shampoo then have baby oil rubbed in all over to keep their skin clean and supple. They do tend to suffer from spots if they're not regularly bathed. Their feathering needs combed through to prevent mats but generally they're very easy to look after. Much easier than the powderpuffs who have coats like afghans - ours matted a second after grooming   Most hairless need shaving if you are going to show them, if they have lots of feathering they will have lots of body/facial hair to shave off too. If you're not showing you can just leave it.

Any other questions? :)

Does anybody know of any breeders of chinese crested and what sort of prices the hairless ones are. I have been looking on the lines of about a thousand pounds but someone else thinks that is too much.
