My male has been bringing up bile in the morning for the past 3 weeks nearly. I have tried giving him some biscuits before bed to see if that helps but it didn't. I have given him some biscuits for breakfast but that didn't work either as he won't eat them in the morning. He has been to the vet and she said it was just a build up of acid in his tum which is what I had already thought but wanted to make sure. Does anyone have any other ideas as to what I could try?
My Tula used to do this and was sometimes miserable all morning. I tried Autarky food for adult dogs and she never had it again all the time she ate it. when I gave her something else as I had run out she was sick again. I assume it was one or a combination of herbs added to the food that stopped the indigestion.
Thanks Barbara. It has got me baffled really as he is back to normal as soon as he has been sick and it only ever happens in the morning.

It could be that he's not eating enough before bed to see him through the night? What about splitting his food and feeding him half before bed. My Tchi brings up bile if he's not fed every 12 hours on the dot!
I tried splitting his evening meal in to 2 so that in theory he is being fed 3 times a day instead of twice but it didn't make any difference. I'm starting to think that they have changed the food that he is on as it was about then that I bought the last bag of food. I might email them and ask actually.
One of my mum's girls used to do this, she sorted her out by giving her a piece of ham as soon as she got up, it stopped her bringing up morning bile completley. Might be worth a try with yours.
Thanks Carrington, the problem I have with him is he won't eat anything in the morning because he feels sick, though for the first time in 3 weeks he wasn't sick this morning so fingers crossed his problem is sorted.
My old girl used to be a bit biley in the morning. I found giving her breakfast helped. If he won't have dog biscuits, would he take an arrowroot biscuit? I swear by these for binding runny tums and taking the edge off acidic stomachs. Not that I'd want to give a sugary treat every day, but it might make him get into the habit of having breakfast. Mine go mad for a bit of "arrowroot".
I might give the arrowroot biscuit a try if he starts again tomorrow morning, all I have to do is find it here in Germany! I have tried all his favourite things in the morning but he just turns his nose up until he has been sick. Fingers crossed I won't need to try anything else.
Have you tried ginger? It is supposed to be very good at settling stomach acid and pregnant women take it for morning sickness - worth a try if he will take it
One of mine is sometimes nauseous in the morning and can't eat her breakfast-I give her a little drink of skimmed milk and then she eats.Yes, I know dogs don't need milk and some can't tolerate it,but it works for her! :-) It could be worth a try.
He was sick again this morning so it was just a one off yesterday I think. I have actually bought some goats milk to give him tomorrow morning as I had thought about giving him some milk. I don't think I would get him to eat ginger as it has a strong smell and he is a bit of a woose when it comes to eating things that have a strong smell.
My dog was sick with bile each morning for ages. In the end the vet said that his tummy was just too empty in the morning so he now has to have a decent sized supper as just a biscuit wasn't enough. After tea it meant he was going about 14 hours before breakfast which is too long. He now has 2 main meals a day and a handful for supper and hasn't been sick since.
Well I gave him some goats milk this morning and he wasn't sick so hopefully this has done the trick. Thanks Arched, I did try and give him part of his evening meal later so that he was having something more than just a few biscuits but no change in him.
