don't know about outlook but on the system we have at work you can. It is in the drop down menu on edit I think. you could appeal to the persons good nature and send another one asking them to delete it without reading it and if you ask for read receipts you can check if they do.

we use outlook at work and you can retract messages - I dont know how though !

Thats because they are sent to and from on the same mail server - I am assuming this is external?

I know at work if you want to resend you can retract original and then put the right persons details on it, but at home I haven't a clue
The one i got before to say it was retracted and I couldnt open it was from an external server?

Gosh what a nightmare! I've almost sent an email to the wrong person before and when it hits you what you think you've just done it sends your heart racing doesn't it

Hope you get it sorted!

You can recall messages on Outlook, but not on Outlook Express as far as I'm aware.
M.

Under the actions menu, you have a "recall this message" button when you have the sent email open. Whether it works I don't know, but worth a try!
thanks everyone for your advice, Malakai where bouts is the actions menu>?

On mine, I opened the sent item and then clicked on the action menu. It gave me a couple of options and an arrow pointing downwards - if you click on that, it shows up more options and it was the second from last on the menu. Hope yours is the same!!!

I once sent an e-mail which I'd stopped sending when I closed down my computer. Unfortunately it saved it and then sent it to everyone :d :d It was a rather heated e-mail and only told the truth but it was rather OTT. Yeah it caused some trouble but it was soon resolved and at least everyone at that time knew EXACTLY how I felt.

I just tried it and it says right on it that it only works for unread messages. There is a big bold heading warning you that some recipients might have already read it. You can ask for confirmation of who and who did not get to read it. Sent a test to my OH, will see what comes back. Great thing to know, I've sent ill advised emails too, by mistake or by poor thinking.
