Docking is not illegal! It's only illegal to do it yourself.

ITS NOT ILLEGALE WHEN DONE BY A VET. CONTACT THE COUNCIL OF DOCKED BREDS FRO A VET THAT WILL.

FROM PAST EXPERIENCE WHEN SELLING PUPS .ABOUT 80%OF THE CALLS WE HAD WERE FROM HUNTING/SHOOTING BOYS AND ALL WANT THEIR PUPS TO BE DOCKED FOR HEALTH REASONS

if you contact the council of docked breeds, who have a website under that name, they will advise you on a vet who will dock, quite legally.

YES I HAVE THE INFO ALREADY UNFORTUNATELY THERE ARE NO VETS CLOSE TO ME ,AND GIVEN THE COST THEY CHARGE FOR DOING IT(WE WERE QUOTED £300 FOR A LITTER OF8)ADDED TO THAT ADDITIONAL TRAVELLING EXPENSES IT PUTS THE SELLING PRICE UP BY £50 OR SO
DOES ANY ONE KNOW OF A VET IN THE SOUTH WALES AREA(CARMARTHENSHIRE) THAT IS NOT OPPOSED TO DOCKING WORKING DOGS?

Welcome to the forum Tango.
Is there any chance that you can take your CAPS LOCK off ?
It makes postings very hard to read :-)
Thanx.

o. k consider it done
On the odd occasion I have needed (not wanted) to have a pup docked my vet has charged me around £10 - plus the cost of visiting to check the dam out of course!
Possibly the price is "fairly" reasonable as both he and I are anti-docking!

I wonder if the same vet would charge a "fairly reasonable" price to repair tail damage to an un-docked working ESS ?
Rest.
I would have thought that the WSS owners would have invented a tail protector by now that they could put on the dog when it is working - can't be that hard - can it?

I wonder how you would keep them still long enough to fit it! :-) Rest.

If the damage being caused is so bad why haven't you got your vet to do anything about it so far? Surely any price is 'reasonable' to nsure the comfort of your dog? Or are they just 'tools of trade' to you?

It was a hyperthetical question Bec. You totally missed the point  As for "tools of the trade" I will treat that comment with the contempt it deserves :-)

that sort of comment doesn't deserve an answer Bec.
