I would be interested to hear from anyone who had Polio and who may be experiencing symptoms like the initial attack.  I have been told my recent new weakness is due to the effects of ageing and the loss of motor neurons in the original attack.  Please PM me if you have any info.

I have searched the Internet and got lots of information but it is hard to see which info is the newest and if it has been overruled by some other finding.  They are still undecided about the reasons for the epidemics in the fifties blaming the heat, improved sanitation??? and various other things but nothing definitive has come out of it yet.

I will be attending the centre for polio research at the Lane Fox Clinic, where I hope to get a truer picture.

In the meantime I would still love to hear from any other survivors.

I found a site confirming exactly what you first posted but I don't know how new it is or if is theory or fact.  I will see if there is anything I can point you to.  I have a bit of interest in the subject as I know a man with PPS and my Mum made polio vaccine at Connaught Labs, in Toronto, for 25 years.
