my lovely tan next leather jacket got a glass of red wine over it last night, i'm not attached to material thngs but i feel gutted, my mum paid for it for my birthday and its but in and belted so rather flatering.  My partner has soaked it with water but i've later learned that this could have sealed the red wine in? its still wet at the mo so i can't tell if it is stained, i called up the dry cleaners and they said it would cost over £40 to have it cleaned and it would take 3wks and they can't be sure if it will work 100%, anyone got any ideas? Whats worse is my ohs mother is here, this is the first time that she has seen our son, who is not 4, she arrived last night but i'm finding it hard as i can't stand her shes really screwed up her three kids and she had her two grandchildren for a while but they where taken off her by s.s. and shes just horrible, I real dred when she touches him, and i've also got  a 6month old girl and i just real really anxious when she wants to hold her, sorry to moan but i can't say anything to oh, it means alot to him to see her after solong, i don't think her health is that good so it makes it worse..........give me strength, i can't even have a drink coz i'm breastfeeding! AAAARRRRRHHHH, i've even got all three dogs in the bedroom i don't want her touching them either lol
Thanks for listening,

Aw Carolineckc!  What a day you have had!  The red wine stain.......I can't give you any advice on that I am sorry, it is probably best left to the experts.  As for your partner's Mum........Well, you do not say why you dislike her but I don't think that the S.S's would take children away from their grandparents without good reason.  I think that if you have to put up with her near your children, make sure you or your partner are there supervising her with them (and with the dogs too!)  I am sure that your partner would not put the children at risk either so I would think that he too will be watching her without you having to say anything to him!

I had left a glass of red wine on a window sill behind my White leather sofa, one of the dogs knocked it over..I hadnt noticed, gone to bed, came down next morning to what looked like the Texas Chain saw Massacre on the sofa
I used 'stain devils' for red wine on it and it lifted the whole stain off! (you can get them in most supermarkets/woolies/hardware stores) I was amazed and the leather was fine, even though I ignored the instructions in my panic and just doused the sofa in the stuff :D

I've got a bottle of 'Wine Away' that I bought from Lakeland ages ago - just in case :D A while ago we found an old stain on a tablecloth and put some on - it slowly, completely, removed the stain and after it was washed, the tablecloth didn't show the stain at all :) :) Haven't tried it on leather tho' :)

http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!3998 Works out cheaper than the Stain Devil :D - especially if you spill a lot :D :D

What a nuisance :(

http://www.all-about-leather.co.uk/allabout/leather/    This site may help :)

Unfortunately, a Leather Jacket won't necessarily clean as easily as a Leather Sofa :( :(  Sofas often have protective films on them - especially White ones ;)

If all else fails and you're ready to throw the jacket away, just soak the whole jacket in the red wine - at least it'll match     unless of course you're willing to chance £40 to get it cleaned ;)

I had this happen with a dark silk blouse, someone spilt red wine on me  and no amount of soaking got rid of the stain, so in desperation I soaked it in red wine and the stain was gone - or really, the whole thing was stained, but at least it looked better!

Found this -

How to Remove Rose and Red Wine Stains From:
Leather, Suede

Blot up excess wine. Mix a solution of mild soap in lukewarm water. Swish to create a great volume of suds. Apply only the foam with a sponge. Rinse well with a clean damp cloth and wipe dry. For leather only, condition with Tannery Vintage Leather Cleaner & Conditioner or Fiebing's Saddle Soap.

But I thought that white wine was used to take red wine stains out too.

As for OH's mother - she will be gone soon and your life can return to normal :D
