My mum (without internet access) has just bought her first dog, a pedigree whippet who is 8 weeks old.  Shes currently feeding him on Purina Proplus complete puppy food, but the guidelines on the back of the packet measure out the food on what weight the puppy will be as an adult.  Can anyone find out how many KG an adult female whippet will be? Shes one of the smaller puppies in the pics Ive seen of the rest of the litter and currently weighs about 5 1/2lbs.

Thankyou

Found this which might give you a general idea.

How silly though that the feeding guidelines are based on what the puppy will be as an adult. What about crossbreeds where you have no idea how big/small they'll end up! I know you should go on how the dog looks and alter the food intake as necessary but a lot of people do use the feeding charts on packets as a guideline, especially a first puppy.

Hope that site helps anyway :)

Don't worry about the feeding regime. If she's anything like my thug pirate, she'll be eating everything and anything soon enough, including cupboards, tables, shoes, bras, socks and spectacles!!!!!!

Enjoy her.
