Topic Other Boards / Foo / EEK!!! Hair Dye Advice urgently needed LOL
- By kerrib Date 11.06.07 18:57 UTC
My hairdresser friend cut and coloured my hair today as normal (has done for many years).  Also, as normal, she went out to pick up her son from preschool for 20 mins once the dye was on and I sat with her baby daughter (6 months old).  Livvy who I have looked after on numerous occasions without any bother decided that today was the day that she wasnt happy and decided to have an almighty hissy fit 2 mins after her mummy left!!!

Now just imagine, me with a towel round my shoulders and copious amounts of hair dye on, cuddling a screaming, kicking baby for 20 mins!  Tried every trick in the book to calm her down but she wasn't having any of it (and the fact that i have 4 young children myself - I thought I should be an expert in this!! ;))

Anyway needlesstosay by the time my friend got back, I was sweating very unlady like and my hair was flapping around my face, neck and ears like noones business and.............  Yep, you guessed it........ I now have lovely dark brown streaks across my face and neck.  We have tried everything to remove it and short of having a chemical face peel, HOW DO I GET IT OFF????? :D LMAO

Anyone any suggestions?????  It just looks so so obvious and have tried makeup to hide it etc and even resorted to trying a dilute solution of nail varnish remover .  Please help meeeeeeee ................. :D :D :D :D

Hair dye gets hair dye off if that makes sense - but I'm not sure if that applies hours after............a bit on a cotton pad then scrub. Not sure of anything else sorry.

You could try a facial exfoliater!  The 'body' one is a bit coarser but try it (gently) if the facial one doesn't work!

Someone on another site said ash (cigarette or fire ashes)and shampoo mixed together and rubbed on works.

Thanks for all your suggestions.  Just been sat here with toothpaste plastered all over my face but to no avail.  Unfortunately we don't have a fire or smoke so the ashes one might be a little tricky unless I start a fire in the back garden :D :D

Umm, unfortunately no dye left and it has been a couple of hours so the dye has well and truly embedded in my skin.  Have already tried cleansers and scrubbing etc but my forehead is a little sore now.  However, thought I might try neat lemon juice.  Afterall that is supposed to whiten teeth and is used as a cleaner so maybe it will lighten the stains!

If you hear screams and some rude words, dont panic.  Its only the mad woman decided lemon juice was good for eyes!!!! :D :D :D

Kerri,
I know that perfume can work too; but not sure after a few hours though, but it is worth a try!! I have used it on numerous occassions  good luck if not it will just come off over the next couple of days!

copius amounts of foundation for the next few days!!!

Nip down the shops - remember to put brown paper bag over head first :D - buy a pack of 10 cigarettes and let them burn in a dish, alternatively just wear the bag for a few days til it wears off :D :D . Someone else said neat bleach on cottonwool but don't think I would put it on my face :-(

LOL Dakkobear!!!! :D Did briefly think of neat bleach but not that brave!  Nail varnish remover was bad enough!!!!!  The lemon juice just stung too much so I couldn't leave it on long enough to do anything!!!!!

Oh well............ anyone got a brown paper bag I can borrow????! :D :D

Baby oil is usually good at 'lifting' stains - I'd give that a try
- By Dill [gb] Date 11.06.07 21:08 UTC
I'd try baby oil and a little salt - scrub gently :)  I find this makes a really good exfoliator for my face, especially followed by pineapple juice :D   Otherwise hair conditioner    I've used it myself to remove dye stains.

If all else fails a little bleach diluted (1 part bleach - 10 parts water) and dabbed on with a cotton bud will do the trick - but only if you have skin like a rhino after all the scrubbing ;)

Dont know if this will help but, a hairdresser friend once told me never to use Johnsons baby shampoo  on recently coloured hair, because it fades the colour......
- By Hamster [gb] Date 12.06.07 17:43 UTC
I remember once listening in to a phone coversation between hairdresser and client whilst having my hair cut. Clients hair colour had gone wrong and hairdresser suggested 'head and shoulders' shampoo--said it would strip any colour out of the hair---not sure about out of skin though. Good luck!!!!

I heard that too Hamster, my friend had electric blue highlights put through her hair! (she's as wacky as they come), used head and shoulders and that took them out no problem after paying all that money to have them put in.

Destined for the paper bag for a few days  :D

Tried everything suggested that I could and now I have got a rash over my face!! :D :D :D  I can normally shove anything on my face and not come out in spots or rashes but I think I overloaded it yesterday especially the nail varnish remover and diluted bleach and its come back biting me on the bum!  It has faded slightly but it is oh so obvious still! :D :D

Dropped the kids off at school late this morning so I didn't have to see or speak to anyone and the same again this afternoon.  Looked after Livvy again this afternoon for 10 mins and she was fine  .  My friend thinks that maybe the way I looked yesterday with my hair etc probably startled her and freaked her out a bit.

Thanks for everyones suggestions but I guess I am just going to have to weather this one out for a couple more days.  ;) :p :p

I've done this before - not because of hissy fitting children :d but because of hissy fitting dogs! LOL

Don't panic!  Just shower and wash your hair tomorrow morning and it'll come off :)  DO NOT rub anything into it!

definately cigarette ash mixed with water, works on me every time

Just a thought for next time, smear vaseline round your hair line, or conditioner if you can't stand feeling greasy (but don't get it on your hair!!), and then apply the dye, it won't touch your skin! But I always found that by mixing a small amount of the dye that was used with the same amount of water and rubbed gently on the stains lifts alot of it. A tip I was taught when I trained to be a hairdresser!! It does take the worse off!!
