Would anyone be able to answer a question about incapacity benefit for me?  I have tried various websites but can't find exactly the information I need.  The short question is how is the benefit affected if I do a full-time training course - I am not able to do my previous job anymore and am unlikely ever to be able to but want (and need!) to work so I am going to retrain.  I am just not sure whether I will still be able to recieve the benefit whilst I am studying or whether I will lose this immediately because it is a full-time course.  I hope that makes sense - we are trying to plan a bit in advance.
Many thanks

You can go on training courses as you are not required to be available for work, there are advisers at the Jobcentre plus who can help you. It's on page 44 about help with training & the JC+ adviser I saw was really nice & gave me lots of ideas for when I feel I might be able to start thinking about work or training

It's worth having a read of quite a lot of the pdf in the link as it's for new IB customers

Many thanks both of you.  I think perhaps I should go in and have a chat with someone at the Jobcentre - this info very interesting and much appreciated.
