Topic Dog Boards / General / Dog Wee - the smell

Can anyone offer any advice, a friend of mine has just moved into a house and the smell in the back garden is horrible a strong smell of dog wee. The garden is slabbed/block paved (kinda) no grass. Apparently the previous tennants had four dogs. Who never stepped foot outside the gate or inside the house :( so the council have cleared the garden of dog mess and cleaned it out with jet wahses but now they have properly moved in they have realised the smell of dog wee is still there.

So solutions please. They are loathe to dig up the whole garden and clear the soil from underneath but that was my solution., and seeing the size of it today I don't really blame them, although they do want to get rid of the smell before the warm weather really comes. Their baby daughter is only 7 months old but will soon be out and about, they will take up part of the garden this autumn and replace that with grass.

The neighbours are happy already and said the smell in the Summer was beyond belief and smelling it today 3 months after the people have left I can well believe it.

Hi Kazz,

try HERE - excellent product and will certainly take care of the odour :)

The bac to nature stuff is great, and does work. If it's a one off get rid of the smell I'd go with it. If they have dogs too and need to keep the slabs fresh then I'd use this stuff as it's much cheaper and smells lovely. I've been using it for a couple of years now and it does what it says on the container :)

Oh yes the pineapple one is lovely. The bac to nature stuff works well but was costing me £37 odds a month, for the same price you can get 4 x 5 litres of this stuff and you can dilute it more too. I find I only need to order twice a year so am now paying about £6 a month

Thank you all I will tell them. I think they may use the Bac to nature stuff first then move onto the other. The smell is dire.....and with summer coming and the baby starting to walk they need to do something. They will be taking up the slabs over a period of time so they will resolve it eventally. They have a dog themselves a lovley mongrel girl called Lulu who is 12.

Thanks everyone Karen
