I'm wondering if anyone can help...Roxys season finished a few weeks ago, but she's being a bit funny about her breakfast. She gets JWB - half in the morning and the rest at about 8pm - so reasonably evenly spaced. She's not eating it all, and certainly what she does eat, it's not with the same vigour she does her dinner.

She's completely potty about dinner as normal and any normal training treats, but not eating all her breakfast. We've started taking it back up after a period of time - is this right?

She's been a bit mopey occasionally lately too - she's playing our normal games, and loving her walks but sometimes looks a bit, for the want of a better word, peeved. Also on walks, she's sticking to us far more more.....Is this all post season blues or something else? I'm not overly worried in every other aspect she's right as rain....it's just not like the greedy mare to be so fussy about her morning food.

Hi there,
My oldest girl is exactly the same she had a season about
seven or eight weeks ago and really hasn,t been interested in her food much since then.
She,s never been a foody type of dog ever but every time her season comes around we have this  with her ,
its almost as if she thinks I,m trying to poison her from the looks I get.
I just indulge her until the pups would have been born ,just letting her have a scrambled egg or cereal breakfast and her normal evening meal by which time she,s usually over her percieved morning sickness.
She always returns to normal after the nine weeks is up, try not too worry she ,ll be fine.

Founds like possibly phantom traits.  Is she looking swollen in teats? nesting more then normal? becoming more clingy?

Teats are normal  - checked this morning, and she's not taking toys to her bed - she only sleeps in her bed at night the rest of the day she's on the sofa.

I would say she's really well behaved and sticks close to us far more on walks but this already happening before her season on account of lots of clicker training and at 19 months she's getting more and more obedient.

If it is a phatom, what can the vet give her? I might take her to be sure.

I've just realised she was sick last week in the morning, for no apparent reason...

The vet won't need to give her anything hopefully !

Just reduce her food intake and then get her more active and take her out for more walks so she doesn't have time to be on the sofa feeling sorry for herself :D

She should be fine and back to normal after a couple of days and banging at the cupboard door where you keep her food :)

As Lucy said, less food, more exercise!!!  If she does get any signs of milk then dorwest do a supplement which dries up milk, we have used it in the past and works very well :)
