How long after the pups are born does a bitch normally bleed? I'm not worried about it as she is normal, healthy, eating everything in sight ;) going for walks etc, but I thought that she was starting to stop (if that makes sense :) ) Today I have had to clean up large spots of blood. It's clean red blood, nothing nasty. The pups are 4 weeks old and I know that some bitches can bleed for 5 weeks or so, but just wondered how long your bitches bled for? More out of curiosity than worry. :D

It can vary ---but 8 weeks isn't unheard of and I've had that happen.

this happen to my brie after her first litter she was still spoting and bleeding only a bit right up to her season which was four months after the puppies.the vet did give it a name  but i forgot what it was called.

but my chase told me when she was back in season different smell and the bleeding got heavryer like a nomal season bleed.

Oh well, I'll just have to keep a blanket/sheet on the furniture, and a cloth in my hand then :)

My bitch is still spotting slightly, no smell or infection and her pups will be 3 months old soon. Have had it happen before. Don't worry:cool:

I'm not worried, just curious :) As it is, I haven't seen any blood at all today but she is licking a lot  Just spent the last half hour playing with the babies. OUCH! Their teeth are very sharp :D Still, it beats doing housework ;) :D
